Ngwenyama Sobhuza – the Cars & the Quote

The memorial to King Sobhuza II, Swaziland’s independence monarch, is thoroughly enjoyable. My son loves the cars in particular, two mighty Buicks and a Cadillac. I enjoyed the old photos, particularly the ones with the imposing King dressed in top and tails. The quote at the entrance to the memorial stopped me in my tracks. This is the main quote, written in large letters, on the entrance to what is considered holy ground:

"At any moment in my life, I always feel that I have no enemy. He who regards himself as my enemy cannot succeed because I will spare no effort in getting closer and closer to him until there is a conference. Once we have discussed and I have disclosed my genuine feelings towards him, there will be no animosity at all.

What you need to do is to help the one who thinks you are his enemy - not in the spirit of helping your enemy - but in the spirit of helping another human being, your brother, to see that you mean well towards him; and are interested in extending a hand of friendship."

It speaks volumes, doesn't it?
